We have bred and shown Ragdoll cats for nearly ten years and going to various shows we were always drawn to the Sphynx cats being so different from all other breeds of Cats.
Our Cattery based in Oswaldtwistle is approx 5 mins off junction 5 on the M65

Like Ragdolls they are bred as housecats so we thought the two breeds would compliment each other.
In 1966 a domestic cat gave birth to a hairless kitten in Toronto, Canada, it was a natural mutation, and the Sphynx cat as we know it today, came in to existence. Other naturally hairless cats have been found worldwide, these have magically been produced by mother nature, and are the foundation for this unusual breed.
The Sphynx are highly intelligent, (one survey put them as the most intelligent cat) very animal and people orientated and affectionate. They love attention, they will always greet their owner when they come home, they would love to snuggle next to you to sleep and would like to be under the covers. (if allowed.)
They have fun playing with appropriate cat toys and table tennis balls, but most of all they really love affection from their owner.
They are essentially indoor cats, as they have little protection from adverse weather, and they do have great appetites to make up for the heat loss.
The Sphynx is not totally hairless, they have a fine down on their body, which makes the cat feel like a warm peach
The Sphynx have a characteristic pose when standing, of raising one foreleg.
As the Sphynx is an indoor cat only, their skin is very sensitive due to lack of hair and they can sunburn very easy, our cats love sitting on the window where the sun comes in.
The Sphynx's are not hypo allergenic, but the lack of hair may help to reduce the reaction of allergies in some people.
Our first two breeding Queens are shown below.
This photo was taken in December 2007 Mokey the Torti was 5 months old, and Chamoix the Red & White tabby was 6 weeks younger.
